March 22, 2024 Soggy Friday Across Southeast
Still snowing across the Midwest and Great Lakes as Winter Goes Overtime
Coast to coast active weather on Friday!
Most impactful will be threat for heavy snowfall including Milwaukee over to Rochester, Michigan — home of the Oakland University Golden Grizzlies. When I was in high school, Oakland was rather aggressive in recruiting prospective undergrads from around Michigan. Their victory over Kentucky may help them for the Fall 2024 freshman class!
Still watching Florida for heavy rain — which may now overperform the forecasts, which have been less than stellar for precipitation amounts over the past 2-days.
7:45 AM ET Temperature analysis near the lows for the morning show still 115 million Americans at/below freezing on March 22, which is a little colder than normal by about 1°F across the Lower 48.
However, the temperature anomaly (deviation from last 30-years) is much colder, in the 10 to 15°F normal range in the Northeast. Could be worse as much, much colder air is bottled up in Quebec with actual temperatures well below 0°F. This repository of cold air will take a while to liquidate — including the rest of Canada — extending winter in overtime.
