The main weather feature across the Lower 48 is a stationary front that continues to lazily sag across Texas into the Carolinas focusing clouds/rain and keeping temperatures in check. An area of low pressure moves through the Great Lakes. Not expecting much in the way of severe weather.

Heavy rain across Texas to the Carolinas along the long-stationary frontal boundary. Some pop-up showers across the Great Basin / West to provide spotty relief from the brutal heat.

Atlantic Tropics are showing slight (< 10%) signs of development in early August but remain dead through the remainder of July 2024. There are 3 out of 51 members w/hurricanes developing out of a tropical wave in the 10-12 day range.
Western Pacific Typhoon Gaemi (05W):
Typhoon Gaemi is steadily intensifying with a hint of an eye developing on IR imagery. The system is traveling over high ocean heat content on track to landfall northeast Taiwan later on Wednesday at 110-120 knots intensity = Category 3-4.
Gaemi will be disrupted as it landfalls Taiwan but unbelievable amounts of rainfall will fall on the island. A second landfall in China will come by Friday likely as a large Typhoon.
