Hurricane Ernesto continues to intensify up to 70-knots (8 PM ET) but central pressure is falling quickly during a burst of rapid intensification. If Ernesto can clear out an eye on Thursday, then it may become a major hurricane.
Ernesto is not a direct threat to the U.S. East Coast, but Bermuda may take a direct hit [Cat 2-winds] followed by Newfoundland, Canada seeing effects from a large post-tropical Ernesto.
NHC takes Ernesto to a maximum of 100-knots, but I would go a little higher. The environment in the subtropical Atlantic is not ideal for a developing / ramping up hurricane with wind shear and dry air.
