Good Saturday!

Kentucky has received way too much rain over the past 7-days — and so far this year for that matter — with a persistent weather pattern that transports moisture plumes out of the Gulf of Mexico into stationary frontal boundaries.

By the numbers, Kentucky received 4.6 Trillion gallons of rainfall in the past 7-days. Arkansas at 4.9T, Missouri 3.9T, Illinois 3T, Indiana 2.9T, and Ohio 3.0T, and Tennessee 2.7T. Even more rain is on the way and flash flooding risk will continue.

Last 7-days of Rainfall maximum of 13.2” in Kentucky

The same weather pattern continues for yet another day with a strong trough digging into the U.S. Southwest with a ridge over the Eastern U.S. together forcing a tremendous deep layer moisture feed out of the Caribbean and Gulf.

A stalled frontal boundary remains draped across the Plains into the Ohio River Valley with warm, humid air mass to the south primed for heavy rain and thunderstorms later in the day.

Enhanced Risk of Severe Weather Underway

Tornado Watch 122 was issued in the past hour for a squall line moving through Arkansas and northern Louisiana. Tornadoes are possible.

Radar through 10:48 AM CT shows the line of storms all with severe warnings approaching Little Rock, moving through Shreveport.

HRRR Simulated Radar | 48 Hours Through Monday Morning

A line of thunderstorms (Slight Risk of Severe) for Southeast into Atlanta into early Monday morning.

Excessive precipitation will arc in training bands across several states with the warm, moist Gulf flow.
