Multiple waves of rain will cross the country over the next week with a few systems accessing the warm, moist air mass flowing out of the Gulf of Mexico. Even California gets a decent batch of rain this weekend from a cut-off low pressure system.
Significant system spins into Northeast this weekend, and then another later next week.

On an hourly basis from HRRR through Sunday morning, the convection bubbles up in Texas panhandle and surges east. Considerable rain amounts in New England by Sunday well over 1-2” likely in Maine.

Zooming out from space, we can see how Mexico is mostly cloud free this afternoon along with upper-Midwest and Florida. Otherwise, clouds and rain in between with a developing storm system tracking from Great Lakes into Northeast.
