Well below normal temperatures for the next few days until a major end of April heat wave
A frontal boundary is moving across the Appalachians today with scattered showers and storms from the Northeast all the way into Texas. Behind this front is chilly air for mid-April — well below normal.
Saturday’s High Temperatures + Anomaly
Much warmer than normal along the West Coast and Florida, but chilly in between with highs only in the 40s and 50s from north Texas into the Great Lakes.
Mid-90s in Florida = hot
Sunday’s High Temperatures + Anomaly
A bit warmer in the 60s across the central U.S. basically the same from the Canadian to Mexican borders.
The cool anomaly is maximized from Texas to the Southeast up to 15°F below normal.

Quite chilly today across the Dakotas and Midwest with scattered snow flurries.

Below freezing this morning in the Dakotas but only a population of about 4 Million while the areal coverage of the Lower 48 is 15%.

Not expecting any snow accumulations in Minnesota. Scattered showers along the frontal boundary will not be severe. High pressure builds behind the frontal boundary after the clouds clear out = cool and crisp Canadian continental air mass.
